Small museums Paris
Jun 22nd, 2007 by Paris Delices

In the summer months, when flocks of tourists plant their feet on the Parisian soil, lines at Paris’ largest museums begin to grow longer. You will find that the Louvre’s Denon wing is bursting at the seams as visitors crowd around Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The line at the entrance of the Musée d’Orsay, home to the world’s largest Impressionist collection, wraps around the museum’s façade and out onto the street. With only a few precious days to visit Paris, it is possible to admire the master’s without battling the crowds, at some of the city’s more decadent and petit museums.
Musée National Picasso Paris
Opened in 1985, the works of the great Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso, are displayed in the Hotel Salé a magnificent 17th century Parisian mansion built by architect Jean de Bouiller.
The collection, organized chronologically, features over 3500 works by the artist, including his early “Self Portrait with Cloak” 1901, and “The Kiss,” a painting inspired by the Picasso’s marriage to Jacqueline Roque in 1961. Several works from Picasso’s private art collection, including works by Cezanne, Degas, Matisse, and Seurat are also on display.
